HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT

History of the BC Resident Care Aide Program
In 2011, the Resident Care Aide program was modified and a standardized curriculum was released across BC. Now known as the Health Care Assistant Program (HCA), PC3 continues its history of excellence in education and career development that it has established across its long history in Health Care Services education in Alberta and BC.
The headquarters for PC3 have been located in Calgary Alberta since 1991 under the name Alberta Business and Education Services (ABES). In 2000 and 2001, many BC residents were traveling to Alberta to take the Alberta Care Aide program and it was because of this interest, as well as the growing health care employment market, we decided to offer the Resident Care Aide program in Vancouver. The Resident Care Aide Program was a new program for Langara College in 2002 and was offered in partnership with BC Resident Care Aide Inc. A similar program has been offered through the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Alberta for eight years. The curriculum was adapted to suit the needs of the British Columbia Health Care System.
In June of 2005 BC Resident Care Aide was accredited through PCTIA and became a private institution offering the program with additional enhancements to meet the changing needs of the employers. On April 1,2006 the BC Resident Care Aide Program announced a new college name to reflect the anticipated plans for growth in other areas.
Our college name is PACIFIC COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE. It is owned and operated by BC Resident Care Aide Inc. and continues to have graduates that meet and exceed the standards employers are looking for.
