Lawrence, Instructor—Theory/ClinicalI have been in the teaching profession for nearly six years and I am loving every minute of it. I have been a nurse for five years, and I love the profession. Helping people inspires me, and providing my experiences and knowledge to students is what makes my role as a teacher one of the most rewarding things I do. I always keep myself professionally abreast of new trends, technology, theory, and practice in the field. I also maintain an active membership in the Honour Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau. Besides all of that, I love Owl City and I spend my free time on photography ;).
Laila, Instructor—ClinicalI have worked as a registered nurse in the United States and in Canada in diverse health care settings including elder care, mental health and addictions, acute care, corrections and palliative care. I have also done development work overseas. All these experiences have had a significantly positive impact on my life – but none so profoundly as the experience I have had teaching at PC3 since 2004. More important than the fantastic curriculum is the spirit with which our teaching is provided, and I am grateful to be working with a team of energetic, qualified, creative and dedicated visionaries. I look forward to the success of every student. My favourite quote: “Being good is commendable - but only when it is combined with doing good is it useful (author unknown).".
Grace, Instructor—Theory/ClinicalI love being a nurse, I always have. For 34 years. I have worked in almost every department you can name, and I have always been excited by the field. The variety, the challenge and the people, I just can't imagine a better way of giving. I am fortunate that I get to enjoy both worlds at PC3. I am both a classroom theory instructor and a clinical instructor. I get to work with the most supportive team I could imagine and most importantly, I get to work for a company I believe in. Who could ask for more?
Tanya, Instructor—ClinicalHello, my name is Tanya, RN, BScN. I have worked as an RN in a variety of nursing areas which include Acute Care, Community Mental Health, Palliative and Paediatrics since 1991. Passing on this knowledge is something I extremely enjoy, and have been doing so as an instructor for many years. I would love to welcome all students who decide to continue with studying or are coming back to upgrade. I believe we should never stop learning. To me, learning is the spice of life! No matter what obstacles or barriers there may be, if one wants to learn and succeed, it is possible. As an instructor, I am here to help you succeed and will always try to make it a pleasant and enjoyable journey.
Sylvia, Instructor—Job ClubI have been working for Pacific Coast Community College since End of February 2011. Recently, I completed the employment counsellor diploma including Job Finding Club Certification with Cornerstone Education. While running my successful entertainment business, I gained extensive experience in motivating and inspiring people. I have been involved with numerous community events, and I am comfortable working in multicultural and multigenerational settings. My creativity helps me to think outside the box. It is my desire to be of assistance to job seekers finding and keeping employment. I also understand the challenges that English as a second language learners face. I have been there myself. Every day I strive to challenge myself and grow to provide the best service I can.
